ABOUT US

The Liberty Arms Professional Building

WE HAVE MORE THAN 80 YEARS OF EXPERIENCE

We’ve been at our present location for almost 50 years.  Between Dr. Gardner and Dr. Donnelly they share more than eighty years of experience.

They practice general dentistry and offer their patients both quality and compassionate care in almost all of the disciplines in dentistry: Cosmetic, restorative, including implant restorations, oral surgery, full mouth rehabilitation, partial and full dentures  We also provide Endodontics (root canal) and periodontal procedures, including soft tissue management.

Our staff, some of whom have been with us for more than twenty years, are very professional as well as congenial.

They’re also very experienced dealing with the many different insurance companies.  They make every sincere effort to know our patient's needs, as do our doctors.

We’re a private practice, not a clinic, and therefore the office and staff take great pride in the reputation they’ve enjoyed over the many years.

The overall design of the office was to offer an energy efficient establishment which includes “passive design”, and comfort for our patients with ample parking for more than thirty-eight cars on the premises.

The fireplace and aquarium add to the pleasant warmth and coziness of the atmosphere.  With this ambience we hope to allay the fears and discomfort that is often associated with the dental office.

Our office mission is to provide the best and most comprehensive dentistry available in both a warm and comfortable setting.   We also take pride in seeing our patients in a timely fashion.  After all, our patients’ time is as important as ours.  Some of Julia Gardner’s artwork is also on display.

Lastly, we also have a Dental laboratory on the premises.  This adds to the efficacy and our ability to supervise the dental crown and bridgework that we provide for our patients.

OUR STAFF

Dr. Jerome Gardner

Dr. Jerome Gardner was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York.  His family chose to move to Long Island where he has remained ever since.  Unlike most children at the age of 7, he wanted to become a dentist.

Dr. Gardner graduated from Roslyn High School and went on to do his undergraduate work at Ohio State University. Due to some family financial hardships he eventually moved back to NY where he continued his education at both Hunter and Queens Colleges. He continued his graduate work at NYU College of Dentistry where he received his D.D.S. degree.

After graduation from NYU, he chose to serve in the US Air Force. While there he received special medical training working with the Flight Surgeons in a hospital environment assisting with Obstetrics and General Surgery.

He also had the opportunity to work with an Oral Surgeon to reconstruct lower jaw aesthetics (Sliding Osteotomy), whereby a so-called “bull dog” lower jaw would be reset to a more normal aesthetic jaw. Several colleagues and he also did extensive research on the efficacy of fluoride applications for children.  In addition, he received considerable experience in Endodontic (Root Canal) Therapy.

After finishing his military commitment, he went on to work with a few dentists before forming his initial partnership of seven years. During that time, Dr. Gardner spent many years researching and placing Dental Implants which were quite experimental at that time. Some of those implants are still functioning today!

When that partnership ended, Dr. Gardner set out on his own and built the Liberty Arms Professional Building where he still practices today. He forged another partnership with Dr. Thomas Donnelly which has lasted for over forty years. Together they built a very warm and professional relationship with their staff and patients.

Dr. Gardner has seven children, sixteen grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

Among some of the Professional organizations Dr. Gardner belonged to are: The American Dental Association, the First District Dental Society, the Suffolk County Dental Society, the American Endodontic Society, and the Suffolk Academy of Medicine.

Dr. Thomas Donnelly

Dr. Thomas Donnelly was born and raised on Long Island.

He attended Our Lady of Loretto Catholic School until the sixth grade.  He then graduated from the John F. Kennedy Jr./Sr. High School in Port Jefferson.  Dr. Donnelly then attended Adelphi University to complete his under graduate studies and received a bachelors degree in Biology.

Following College he chose to complete his graduate studies at the New York University, College of Dentistry where he received his D.D.S. degree.  While at this Dental School he also received the Sidney I. Silverman prestigious award for being the outstanding clinician in his class.

Dr. Donnelly has been practicing dentistry since 1978, first as an associate with Dr. Gardner, and that ultimately led to the present day partnership they’ve enjoyed since 1981.  Dr. Donnelly has also been associated with the American Dental Association; The New York Dental Association; and the Suffolk County Dental Society.

Dr. Donnelly has been married for almost 50 years.  He has three children, four grandchildren, and an adorable dog.  When he’s not in the office, he enjoys golfing, gardening, and spoiling his grandchildren.
